Thursday Inspired Clapping

Why don’t we follow Margaret from Eastbourne example.

Margaret says:-

I cant believe its Thursday again, and so tonight we will all be on our streets, roads and towns clapping for our NHS and all the front line workers.

I will be outside with James and all my neighbours, with my sound system as I have from the start playing (as loud as I can) a song which I hope will be inspiring.
So far I have played Land of Hope and Glory a few times,Proud by Heather Small, We will rock You By Queen, I am still deciding what to play tonight. One of my neighbours told me last week its the high light of the week, and I think everyone in my road appreciate’s it to.

Happy clapping and keep safe.

NHS Song written by Louise James

” I have often found writing a poem or singing a song is a way of expressing emotion whether happy or sad. Well I’m sure all of our emotions haven’t failed to be stirred as day after day we see the unending devotion and dedication of our N.H.S. staff and carers as they battle on, with some very sadly paying the ultimate price.

I felt really moved and inspired to express what we owe to them and when Boris Johnson after his own personal experience extolled them as “the best!”, then that was my cue for rewriting the words of the popular Tina Turner song, so with pen and paper and a backing track this is the result. With our sound system set up I was able to share it with our neighbours for a Thursday night Clapathon.

We hope it resonates with you too as we are also thinking of the many carers we have come to know and appreciate and who are working very hard to keep our residents as safe and well as possible, while we look forward to sharing uplifting times with them again.”

Who said Lockdown was dull?

Who said Lockdown was dull? If you can’t have performers enter the care home then put them at safe distance in the garden ! A great afternoon at Old Hastings House . This is what it’s all about . I am grateful to our excellent cinematographer Michaela Wood

Welcome Stella – Our New Director for Canterbury

Music for Health is delighted to welcome Stella Banks into the MFH Family for the Canterbury Area

Stella says:-

I have only just begun working for Music for Health, but already I think that this is an ideal job for me! Many years ago I was a teacher, so standing up in front of a group is something that I’m very comfortable with. I have also worked in a care home and discovered then that I loved being with elderly people. As an amateur musician, I love singing and playing music. So to find a job that puts all this together is great! I love the interaction with the elderly residents, greeting them all before we start, encouraging them to join in with all the fun things we do, then having another word with them all when I leave. I think that I gain as much from the experience as the elderly residents do!
